Benzoin

The resin that envelops the fragrance

Its scent evokes a comforting sweetness, blending balsamic, vanilla, and slightly amber facets. Warm without being overly sweet, it wraps compositions in a sensation of softness that naturally extends the trail.

Harvested for centuries in Asia, benzoin is a precious resin valued for its generous fragrance and remarkable olfactory richness. Beneath its apparent sweetness lies a material of character, capable of bringing depth and harmony to the most refined creations.

Its scent leaves a familiar impression, like a memory joyfully rediscovered.

Resine de benjoin Aimée de Mars

A resin harvested with patience

At Aimée de Mars, we select benzoin derived from Styrax tonkinensis, primarily cultivated in Laos and Indonesia.

When the tree reaches maturity, its bark is gently incised. A clear resin slowly flows out before hardening upon contact with air. Harvested several months later, it is then carefully sorted to preserve all its aromatic quality.

Each harvest requires time and precise expertise. The producers accompany the tree without ever rushing its pace, allowing nature to shape this resin with its unique scent.

This care for living things aligns with Aimée de Mars' approach. Each material is chosen for its origin, quality, and the women and men who cultivate it, to create perfumes deeply inspired by nature.

A material that brings softness and harmony

In perfumery, benzoin is an essential base material.

It adds roundness to woody accords, softens spices, accompanies flowers, and enhances amber notes. Its scent acts as a link between different ingredients, giving compositions a sense of balance and comfort.

On the skin, its development is gradual. The initial resinous notes reveal a balsamic and slightly vanilla sweetness that lingers for many hours.

In Aimée de Mars creations, benzoin brings this delicate warmth that makes the trails more enveloping while preserving the finesse of each composition.
