A resin born of patience
At Aimée de Mars, we use incense derived from Boswellia carterii, a tree that naturally grows on the rocky plateaus of Somalia.
Under the influence of the sun and wind, these trees grow slowly in a demanding environment. When their bark is gently incised, a clear sap flows out before solidifying upon contact with the air. These small amber drops, called tears of incense, are then hand-harvested.
Each harvest requires time, experience, and a deep respect for the tree. Nothing is rushed. Nature sets its own pace and gradually reveals the full aromatic richness of the resin.
This connection to life naturally echoes Aimée de Mars’s approach. Each material is selected for its origin, quality, and the craftsmanship that accompanies it, in order to create perfumes true to the nature that inspires them.
A material that structures the chords
In perfumery, incense is a precious base material.
It highlights woods, accompanies spices, adds depth to white flowers, and extends the trail with discreet elegance. Its scent evolves slowly on the skin, revealing facets that are alternately fresh, resinous, slightly smoky, and subtly ambered.
