The resin that warms the trail
Its scent is warm, amber, and resinous, with leathery, honeyed, and slightly smoky facets. It evokes the sun-drenched landscapes of the Mediterranean basin, where shrubs withstand wind, heat, and drought. Its trail is both generous and elegant, bringing a depth to compositions that continuously evolves on the skin.
For centuries, this natural resin has been sought after for its olfactory richness. Today, it is one of the key materials in high perfumery, valued for its ability to add character and longevity to creations.
Labdanum cistus reminds us that the most beautiful materials often come from the wildest landscapes.

A resin born under the Mediterranean sun
At Aimée de Mars, we select a labdanum rockrose (Cistus ladanifer) cultivated in Spain.
In the heart of summer, when the heat is at its peak, the leaves and young shoots of the shrub become covered with a naturally fragrant resin: labdanum. This protective substance is then harvested before being processed to reveal its full aromatic richness.
This resin is the result of a subtle balance between the climate, the soil, and the rhythm of nature. The sun, wind, and dryness all play a key role in shaping its scent.
Like all the materials selected by Aimée de Mars, the labdanum rockrose is chosen for its authenticity, quality, and the expertise of the producers who harvest it with patience and respect.
A material that brings depth and character
In perfumery, labdanum rockrose is an essential base material.
It enriches woody accords, highlights resins, accompanies flowers, and brings an amber warmth to compositions. Its olfactory richness also allows it to create connections between different materials, extending their development on the skin.
Over the hours, its facets evolve slowly. The initial resinous notes gradually reveal softer, amber, and slightly leathery nuances, giving the fragrance a enveloping and deeply elegant trail.
Valuable for its richness and complexity, labdanum rockrose remains one of the great resins in the perfumer’s palette. Just a few touches are enough to add depth, character, and elegance to a composition.
